Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA) - How to Use It

MFA adds an extra layer of security to your account by asking for a second verification step after you enter your password.

When You'll See MFA

MFA is required when:

  • Your organization requires additional security
  • You're signing in from a new device
  • The system needs extra verification

Verify with Authenticator App

For Users with Authenticator Apps:

  1. Get Your Code:

    • Open your authenticator app on your phone
    • Find the 6-digit code for your account
    • The code changes every 30 seconds
  2. Enter the Code:

    • Type the 6-digit code from your authenticator app
    • Make sure to enter it before it expires
  3. Trust This Device (Optional):

    • If this is your personal device, check the "Trust this device" box
    • This will skip MFA on this device for 30 days
  4. Complete Verification:

    • Click the "Verify" button
    • You'll be signed in to your account

Verify with a Recovery Code

For Users with Recovery Codes:

  1. Switch to Recovery Code:

    • Click "Use Recovery Code" on the MFA screen
    • You'll see a different input box
  2. Enter Your Recovery Code:

    • Click the "Recovery Code" box
    • Type one of your saved recovery codes
    • Use each code only once
  3. Trust This Device (Optional):

    • If this is your personal device, check "Trust this device"
    • This will skip MFA on this device for 30 days
  4. Complete Verification:

    • Click the "Verify" button
    • You'll be signed in to your account
